Looking for a stylish, family-friendly resort where the kids will be entertained, but it’s also relaxing, where everything is included, but the quality is top-notch? We’ve got you covered.
When you discover somewhere fabulous, it can be tempting to keep it to yourself, so don’t blame your friends if they haven’t told you about Ikos Resorts; they’re probably hoping it will stay a secret!
Ikos is one of those few resorts that have managed to combine family-friendly, all-inclusive facilities with five-star service and a chilled, nothing-is-too-much-trouble vibe. We could also tell you that it’s been named in the prestigious Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards 2021.
One of its hotels, Ikos Olivia in Halkidiki, was even crowned Best All-inclusive Hotel in the World at the 2021 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, but what you really want to know is that Ikos is loved by the most discerning of clients.
It’s a fantastic choice for a luxury family holiday or a romantic break not too far from home.
The Location
Ikos Resorts is a boutique collection of six hotels strung like pearls from Halkidiki in northern Greece across to Corfu and Kos. It has also recently opened its first resort outside Greece in Spain’s Estepona, close to glamorous Marbella on the Costa del Sol. Each resort is located on a long sandy beach, surrounded by beautiful scenery.
The Food
Foodies are in for a treat at Ikos, where its unique ‘Infinite Lifestyle’ concept includes menus created by Michelin-starred chefs, signature cocktails conjured up by top mixologists, extensive wine cellars and premium spirits. You’ll find four à la carte restaurants so you can eat modern Greek at Ouzo, Italian at Fresco, Asian at Anaya or French at Provence.
The food is accompanied by a choice of more than 300 wines, with an in-house sommelier on hand for advice. We love that there is the option to dine out at nearby restaurants too, so you can experience the local cuisine, but if you want to order room service while watching a movie or have a waiter serve you by the pool, that’s fine too.
The Kids
These aren’t the sort of luxury resorts where children are frowned on or expected to be ‘seen and not heard’, where you feel like you’re walking on eggshells and hope the little ones don’t make a fuss, far from it. Families are welcomed with open arms, and children from the age of four are well cared for in the kid’s club; plus, you’ll find a kiddie pool and baby paddling pool.
The Teens
If you’ve got older children, you’ll know what we mean when we say teenagers can be the hardest to please on holiday, and while you look forward to quality time together, they baulk at the idea of hanging out with mum and dad. But don’t worry, they’ll love Ikos, where there’s plenty to tempt them away from their screens. There’s a separate kids’ club for teenagers, plus they can join in many sports activities.
The Entertainment
If you can bear to drag yourselves from the sun-loungers, you’ll find water sports, cycling, volleyball, football and tennis. There’s also a fitness studio, exercise classes such as yoga and Pilates, and a spa. In the evening, you’ll find live music by the bars, movies, and West End-style shows in open-air theatres.
What’s also pretty cool is that guests receive a complimentary car for a day so that you can drive off for your own adventure.
Take it up a notch
For the ultimate in luxury, we recommend Ikos Deluxe Collection. Imagine sipping a glass of chilled Tattinger in your suite while someone else unpacks for you and your personal concierge books you a table for two for dinner on the beach.
Claim your daybed on the beach in an exclusive area reserved just for Deluxe Collection guests, or head to the private Deluxe Collection pool or to the spa, where you’ll receive two complimentary spa treatments.
At the end of your stay, you won’t even need to pack; everything will be taken care of. Now we’re talking, right?
