Prospective first-time buyers in the Solihull area might be better off looking slightly further afield.
A recent study by UK-wide conveyancing solicitors Bird & Co, conducted to identify locations where the average person can save up for a home deposit in the shortest time, sees Coventry in position number eight.
The company analysed average income, living costs and salaries for singles and couples in every city in England. Coventry was identified as being somewhere where couples would be able to save up in under one year, based on a standard 10% house deposit, and helped by a low average property price of £225,786 in the city.
The only cities/regions ahead of Coventry were Hull, Bradford, Derby, Doncaster, County Durham, Preston and Stoke-on-Trent.
